When is the best time to order a SIM plan?

23rd to the end of the month! Here’s why:

1st to 22nd:

  • Receive SIM within two weeks (delivery timing depends on plan and SIM type here)
  • Charged twice in the same month (day you order + invoice billing day (25th))

23rd to end of the month:

  • Receive SIM around the beginning of the following month
  • Charged once (you could save up to around 5,000 yen vs. ordering before the 23rd)

Smiles Tips:

Smiles Connect is a pre-paid service, so the monthly billing amount will apply to the following month.

Data SIM card (50GB/100GB):Within two weeks
Voice SIM card (3GB/10GB/30GB):Within 5 days
Voice eSIM (3GB/10GB/30GB):Within a few days
Combo plan* (53GB/110GB):Data SIM: Within two weeks
Voice SIM: Within five days

*Please note that you will receive both SIM cards at different times, as they will be sent from separate locations

Frequently asked questions about ordering/ shipping

When you purchase a plan, you will be charged a security deposit fee of 3,000 yen (which will be fully refunded to you when you cancel your plan) and an activation fee of 3,000 yen only for the first month. After that, no crazy weird fees will be charged.

If you are currently contracted with another provider, coordinate with them to confirm the proper cancellation process before ordering a Smiles Connect plan. For those using MNP (Mobile Number Portability) to transfer your existing phone number to Smiles Connect, your contract with your current provider will automatically cancel once your order is approved and your SIM is activated. However, we recommend confirming with your current provider to ensure no additional steps are required.

If there is no payment activity 5 days after the order is submitted, your order will be automatically cancelled. If you made a payment already, contact our customer support team.

It depends on the plan you order:
  • Voice SIM card (3GB/10GB/30GB): Within 5 days
  • Voice eSIM (3GB/10GB/30GB): Within a few days
  • Data SIM card (50GB/100GB): Within 2 weeks
  • Combo plan (53GB/110GB): Within 2 weeks for the Data SIM and within 5 days for the Voice SIM (please note that you will receive both SIM cards at different times, as they will be sent from separate locations).
If you purchased a Voice eSIM, you will receive it after you received your Data SIM. If you'd like to receive your plan quicker, we advise you to place an order and complete your payment between the 23rd and the end of the month. You will receive your SIM around the beginning of the month if you do so. Please also note that processing days are business days (excluding holidays and weekends).
