How to do APN settings

Please note
APN settings are required for devices that don’t connect right after installing an eSIM/SIM card.
How to activate
SIM CARD
1. Before inserting your SIM card, shut down your device.
2. If you have an existing SIM card inside of your device, please remove it.
3. Insert the Smiles Connect SIM card in your device.
4. Turn the device back on and wait for the data bars to appear.
5. Test out the network by turning off the Wi-Fi connection in your settings.

How to activate eSim via
QR code
1. After your order and payment are confirmed, you will receive an email that includes a QR code to activate your eSIM.

Please note
The QR code and hyperlink can be activated only once.
If you close the activation window, the link will expire and you will need to request a new one (additional cost of ¥500)
2. Scan the QR code with your phone camera or go into your phone settings and add your eSIM as follows:
For iPhone
- Open “Settings”
- “Cellular”
- “Add eSIM”
- Scan QR Code
For Android devices
- Open “Settings”
- “Network & Internet” or “Connections”
- “Mobile network” or “SIM card manager”
- “Add mobile plan”
- “Scan QR code”
- Scan QR code
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation and activation.
4. Test out your eSIM by opening and using an app or searching something on your browser.
If your network is working, enjoy connecting with your loved ones!

If the QR code doesn’t work, please try activating your eSIM via hyperlink or activation code (instructions shown below).

How to activate eSim via
activation code
1. After your order and payment have been confirmed, you will receive an email that includes an activation code to activate your eSIM.
2. Copy the activation code.
For iOS devices
Proceed to step 3.
For Android devices
Skip to step 10.
3. Open “Settings”
4. Tap on “Cellular”
5. Tap on “Add eSIM”
6. Tap on “Use QR code”
7. Tap on “Enter Details Manually”
8. Paste/enter the activation code from your email next to “Activation Code”
9. Tap “Next” to finalize the process.
10. Open “Settings”
11. Tap on “Network & Internet” or “Connections”
12. Tap on “Mobile Network” or “SIM card manager”
13. Tap on “Add mobile plan”
14. Select option to enter activation code and follow the on-screen instructions
15. Test out your eSIM by opening and using an app or searching something on your browser.

APN settings
For iOS devices
1. Download the APN profile data by scanning the QR code
*Check this page on your phone to access the APN profile data download button

OR
2. Open the settings on your phone and tap “Profile Downloaded”

3. Tap “Install”

4. Enter your phone passcode

5. Tap “Install” again

6. Tap “Done” to finalize the process

7. If the profile was successfully installed, you will see the following information:

Check your APN profile information at any time by going to “Settings”, tap on “General” and then “VPN & Device Management”



For Android devices

Please note
The screens might vary depending on the device.
1. Open the settings on your phone and tap “Network & internet”

2. Tap “SIMs”

3. Select “SoftBank” if you ordered a Data SIM, or “docomo” for a Voice SIM


4. Tap “Access Point Names”

5. Tap “Application” to start editing the details
